Even though our Banana Joe was just a fun project, a lot of people wanted us to at least try to create something new with it. So we went for it….
After also testing Banana Cake in different environments, with different growers, we also came to the conclusion that this strain is only averagely stable. As mentioned before, hermaphrodite plants can occur in any variety or generation, at least that is our experience from all the varieties we have tested from various growers (both exclusive and not). The question is always, how strongly are they present?
Since we want to breed varieties that are as stable as possible and should be suitable for inexperienced as well as older people, the Banana Cake is rather something for already experienced gardeners. They already know the plant well and regularly inspect the plant for inconsistencies, so they can immediately spot a possible pollen sac and remove it to prevent cross-pollination.
We prefer to work on a stable Banana Joe V2, which is closest to our original one, even though it may be newly selected parents. Therefore, we have decided not to include Banana Cake in our main menu, but to keep it as a R&D strain. If you still want to test it, you are welcome to indicate in the comments field of any other order that you would like to receive a few freebies for testing.
Particularly significant flavor profiles were as follows: Sweet & Sour Fruits, Bubblegum Banana, Rotten/Sour/Gravy Banana.
